Rule 1: League Fees
$240 per team, $120 per player. All fees are due on first night of league.
Rule 2: Annual Pass
All league members must maintain an Annual Pass at Hunters Ridge Golf Course.
Rule 3: Players
Each team is made up of 2 players. Each player is required to have a verified handicap with GHIN to play as a scoring team member.
Rule 4: League pools and flights
Four pools with 6 teams and three flights of 8 teams will be used for the 12 week layout. The 1st and 2nd place teams from each pool will go into the championship flight, the 3rd and 4th place teams will go into the 1st flight, and the 5th and 6th place teams will go into the 2nd flight.
Rule 5: League Play
The format will be four-ball (better ball) match play with 90% USGA recommended Handicap Allowance.
Each week teams are matched within their pool with a shotgun start on Monday nights. All matches are required to be played during this time. No matches will be played outside of this time.
Rule 6: Tee Boxes
At the beginning of league you will declare your tee box for the season. This will be the tee box used for to entire season and be listed on the schedule behind the player.
Silver (S), White (W), Combo (C) and Blue (B)
Rule 7: Handicaps
Handicaps will be based off GHIN on the day of the match at 90% USGA recommended Handicap Allowance. Player’s handicaps will be adjusted accordingly by course and tees designated to each of the players.
Play off the lowest ball in the match. The player with the lowest Playing Handicap in the match receives zero strokes. Subtract the other player's Playing Handicaps by the lowest amount. Say for instance Player A (5 CH) and Player B (8 CH). Player A will receive zero strokes while Player B will receive 3 strokes.
The GHIN app is to be used to help provide Handicaps based on tee boxes being played by players. If there are any questions on handicaps, this will be the method used for the final decision.
Rule 8: Pace of Play
Due to the number of teams and the limited amount of daylight, it is very important that you keep pace with the group ahead of you. Please work hard to keep up. Carts will be required on all league nights. If cart path only walking will be allowed.
Rule 9A: Playing Ball Down
A player’s ball at rest on the course must be played as it lies, except when the Rules require or allow the player:
To play a ball from another place on the course, or
To lift a ball and then replace it on its original spot.
If the player lifts or deliberately touches his or her ball at rest or causes it to move, the player gets one penalty stroke. If ball is not replaced and ball is played from wrong place, player will be out of the hole.
Rule 9B: Bunkers
All Bunkers will be played as rake and place for the entire season. Any filled in bunker will be declared ground under repair for the entire season.
Rule 9C: Out of Bounds
E-5 Alternative to Stroke and Distance for Lost Ball or Ball Out of Bounds is in effect.
Model Local Rule E-5
“When a player’s ball is certain to be out of bounds, the player may proceed as follows rather than proceeding under stroke and distance.
For two penalty strokes, the player may take relief by dropping the original ball or another ball in this relief area:
Two Estimated Reference Points:
a. Ball Reference Point: The point where the original ball is estimated to have last crossed the edge of the course boundary to go out of bounds, not where the ball is laying out of bounds.
b. Fairway Reference Point: The point of fairway of the hole being played that is nearest to the ball reference point, but is not nearer the hole than the ball reference point.
Rule 10: Forfeits Rules
If there is a forfeit the present team will automatically get 10 points and forfeiting team will receive 0 points. Even if the match has started and a team forfeits.
Rule 11: Scoring
Teams will only need one person present for the team, that person can be a team member or a substitute player.
Teams will be playing "four-ball". All four golfers play their own ball throughout the round. The team score for each hole is based on the team player with the lowest score, taking into account strokes given to a specific player based on handicap. Each hole is worth 1 point for a win and half point for a tie. There will be 3 points awarded to the match winner or 1.5 for a tied match. The total match will be worth 12 points. You are responsible for turning in a final score.
Rule 12: "Most Likely Score" and "Net Double Bogey"
Play out all holes or use "Most Likely Score", not to exceed "Net Double Bogey". Turn in score cards with individual and team score at the end of the night.
The whole point of the new World Handicap System is to encourage players to post every score, regardless of the type of play. Also to do so on the day of play for updating purpose. That way the handicap index properly reflects the individual’s current “playing ability”.
"Net Double Bogey"
What's a net double bogey? A net double bogey is a score of two-over par after adjusting to a hole's difficulty (holes are handicapped by difficulty on a scorecard from 1 to 18). Put simply: if you're a 10 handicap, net double bogey would be a triple bogey — or a 7 on a par 4 — on the course's 10 toughest holes, and a double bogey on the remaining eight holes. Similarly, for a 14 handicap, a net double bogey would be a triple bogey on the 14 toughest holes, and a double bogey on the other four. The pattern continues.
"Most Likely Score"
For example in match play with concessions or simply being out of the hole, you would use a most likely score. (You lay four, ten foot from the hole, mostly likely would be two putts for a six. It can be subjective. You lay four, four feet below the hole with little break. Most likely score would be five. You lay four, three feet above the hole with a foot of break. Most likely score would be six. **Most Likely Score cannot exceed "Net Double Bogey".
Rule 13: Digital Scorecards
Players will be required to use the Golf Genius Scoring App each week of league. Digital Scorecards will be used to maintain fairness and integrity of the competition. This means that players will keep their playing opponents score and vice versa. Digital live scoring will be considered official once a groups score is attested and confirmed after completion of round.
**Note**
All scores will be posted by Golf Genius to GHIN. Please do not post your scores as it will already be posted.
Rule 14: Posting Scores not from league
All Players are required to post all scores. Scores need to be posted, not to exceed "Net Double Bogey". The easiest way to post your score is "Hole by Hole", the app will configure "Net Double Bogey" automatically. Any intentional violation of the USGA Handicap System will be addressed and can include removal from our league. It is your responsibility to know the rules and how to correctly post scores. We will provided a WHS guide on our site and hard copies to each player on the first night of league.
Rule 15: Forfeits
Two forfeits will drop a team from league play. No refunds. If you cannot play, it is your responsibility to get a sub to replace you. If a team is dropped from the league all events already played and future matches will be zeroed out (10-0 points).
Rule 16: Substitutions
Individual matches will not be made-up. Substitutes can and should be used. On any given night, a team can use two subs. Substitutes will not be limited on number of times played or for who they play for.
Rule 17: League Roster with Substitutes
All league players and substitutes will be listed on a contact list at the club house and provided via email to all players.
Rule 18: Payouts
Payouts will be awarded for match points as a cumulative race for each pool or flight.
Rule 19: Pool Play Ties
If there is a tie in pool play final standings, 1st tie breaker will be head to head match outcome, 2nd tie breaker will be a blind chip off to determine the winner.
Rule 20: Flight Ties
If there is a tie in the Championship flight, a 9 hole playoff will determine the winner. If there is no winner after 9 holes, extra holes will be played until a winner is declared. All matches will be played on the front 9 and extra holes will start on hole 1. If extra holes are required the handicapped holes from the first 9 holes will be repeated for any extra holes. Championship winner will be league champion.
If there is a tie for any other place, the teams can split the placement payout. For a split both teams must agree. If one team wants a playoff, a playoff will be played with the same rules listed above.
**Note**
If you win all your matches in your flight you win your flight regardless of points.
